Thanks for a great Lantern Ski

It was a cold but oh-so beautiful lantern/moonlight ski this year. Thanks to Brendan MacIntosh and his team of volunteers for doing such a great job preparing the trails, the snacks, the parking, the cabin, the lodge, the fires, and the lights. You warmed us all up for a crisp and wonderful start to 2018. We also want to thank Save-on Foods for the snacks and Brian Gawiuk for the oranges and ice lanterns.

RNSC: Help us plan the future

Here is the text of an email sent out to members past and present:

January 1st, 2018

The RNSC wants to wish you a Happy New Year.

If you received this email, you are currently a member of our club or you have been part of the RNSC in the past.

As an RNSC member, you have used (and hopefully enjoyed) our trails, our lodge, and facilities. You also may have some thoughts about why you joined, what your experience was like, what our club priorities should be, and how we might make our club better.

We are asking you to take 15 minutes of your time to fill out a survey that will help us with our strategic planning. This is your chance to help us chart a course for the club in the years ahead.

Please share this survey with other members of your family or your Nordic friends who might like to give their input as well.

Click the red circle or this link to start the survey.

We thank-you for your thoughts and for your time.

Sincerely,

Jeff Wilson

RNSC: Treasurer Wanted

Money!!  It’s important!  The Revelstoke Nordic Ski club Board of Directors is seeking a treasurer to take care of the club’s money.  It is is a lot of work, but being the treasurer provides a real opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the club.  If you think you can help us out, please contact [email protected]

Looking Ahead with the RNSC

With a growing membership and infrastructure, we are at a crossroads.  Should the club invest money in more lighting for night skiing?  Do we want to upgrade our trails so we can host races at a provincial level?  Do we want more social events at the lodge?  How about high-elevation trails?  Or do we want to broaden our membership demographic?  It would be nice to be able to do all of these things and more, but the reality is resources are limited, and we have to set priorities.

To help us establish our priorities, the board has initiated a strategic planning process and we are going to want to hear what you think.  We want to know where, in your opinion, should the club should be putting its energy and money.  Start thinking!  In the New Year we will be distributing a questionnaire to the membership, and the more thoughtful input we receive, the better the plan should be.  We look forward to hearing about what you think!

We hope that you have an enjoyable holiday season and we hope to see you on the trails.

Thanks for supporting the RNSC in 2018!

Strategic Planning

The RNSC Executive is busy preparing, Ski League registrations have begun, and as I type this letter, Matt Smider (our multi-talented RNSC head coach) is out at Blanket Creek hosting an Okanagan Regional Dryland Camp with over 100 Nordic racers in attendance.
For those of you already looking to the mountaintops for the first signs of winter, here are some timely news items and some other club news:
Get Ready for the Winter with Nordic Yoga
Balu Yoga and Wellness is offering Yoga classes tailored specifically to Nordic skiing this fall.  Classes with Lisa Cyr start on Monday, September 18th (@ 7:30pm) and run for 10 weeks.  Cost is $119.
