Nordic News: January 7th, 2018

January 7th, 2018

Hello Nordic Folk!

Thank-you for being a member of the RNSC and supporting our club! We want to wish you all a very happy new year, and we hope you are enjoying your ski season so far. If you still don’t have your pass yet, purchase your season’s pass on Zone4 and then pick up your membership tag at the lodge office.

There are lots of special events, lessons, and fun things happening this month so here are the details you’ll need for your Nordic 2018:

BC Punch Card Pass Winners

Congratulations to Amanda Thomson and Emily McCleod for winning our BC Punch Card passes. We hope you have a chance to enjoy your seven free days of Nordic skiing at clubs around our province (including ours). Please stop by the lodge office to pick up your passes. The day passes associated with the BC Punch Card are transferable, so you can share Nordic skiing with your friends.

Thanks for a great Lantern Ski

It was a cold but oh-so beautiful lantern/moonlight ski this year. Thanks to Brendan MacIntosh and his team of volunteers for doing such a great job preparing the trails, the snacks, the parking, the cabin, the lodge, the fires, and the lights. You warmed us all up for a crisp and wonderful start to 2018. We also want to thank Save-on Foods for the snacks and Brian Gawiuk for the oranges and ice lanterns.

Free Rental Gear for Youth in January

This month, we are having a fun promotion for youth aged 16 and under. Free rental gear! We hope this encourages more young people and families to come out and have some fun, Nordic style.

Want to help with Nordic School Programs?

Volunteers will be following the direction of our paid lead instructors. Please contact Coach Matt: [email protected] if interested.

BC Midgets: We are hosting the Province!

The RNSC is hosting the Midget Championships on March 3 and 4, 2018. This is a provincial level, 2-day race that draws approximately 250 young athletes and their families from all over the BC. Midgets is a race for skiers ages 9-12 with a focus on participation and FUN! In addition to a classic interval race, skate sprints and a dress-up relay race, there will be an athlete lunch and awards banquet. This large-scale event requires tremendous volunteer support, and we will need approximately 70-80 volunteers each day. We would love it if you could lend a hand. Please email Natalie MacLeod at [email protected] if you are interested in helping with the race.

Don’t forget that all of this information can be found on our website:
